So here is one guys. Load 47k of sheet steel, chain protectors, no straps, tarped. 150 mile out and back. Needed to be there no later that 8pm. $250.00. I used to run it for 700.00.

I guess I’m the odd man out. I’m glad to say that I never really looked at load boards as far as rates or rate structure. Based on the numbers I do see posted when I have looked in the past couple of years, I am happy for the decision that I unknowingly made of not looking.

I don't either. I have a broker I run for and could care less what else is out there. It works for me.

The broker the kid runs for loads out of ohio on a regular basis for decent rates. He doesn't ask the rate because the broker wouldn't take it if it wasn't right.

I don’t follow the load boards for rates. Now, I work the load boards a good bit. But, I know what can be had in my given lanes. These loads are paying the same as they did six months ago. What drivers are willing to work for is what changes. I get what I know is a fair rate or I bounce out. Simple as that. Lately I do a lot of bouncing, but I can afford it. Why? Because I know what the lane should pay, and don’t go across the street for $250

Oh it could have been better. Just a few times a month. It was just ok, delivery 3 blocks from house. I only use load boards when direct customers are in slow season. Which is now. Guess maybe time to rustle up a couple more customers. Then you are locked in. I have pulled some high dollar load board stuff. You can make some money chasing spot market freight, and you can set a spell.
