I learned how to drive with a 92 Detroit. Truck started and ran freight every day. I drove that truck for 1 1/2 years right out of the gate. 10 speed in a freight liner. Course speed limit was only 55 back then.
Never a bit of trouble out of that thing.Al. Roper, blairandgretchen, cke and 23 others Thank this. -
In a sense lol.... you know you spend years doing things, and when you least expect it WAM!! Something goofy happens. I’m thinking the locking dog failed? Or got ice under it or something.... anyway, I pulled into the plant last night and found a nearly flat tire on the drivers side of my trailer. What I found was a 4” strap snapped in to, a all but flat tire, and the center knocked out of the grease hub on the axle. It’s apparent the winch somehow released and got between the duals, the flat hook got into the opening on the 2 hole bud. 2 things happened at that point lol, strap got yanked in to, and the valve stem got messed up! Only thing I can figure is the hook rolled around inside the wheel maybe, and knocked the center out of the grease hub on that wheel. This trailer belongs to my buddy where I park. One thing we will never be in short supply of..... is freinds!blairandgretchen, cke, Zeviander and 23 others Thank this.

Im guessing your between N. Baltimore and North side of Lima. Hot Hot Hot area. -
Same material is what killed a woman few years ago. Driver loaded at same plant, didn’t belly wrap and took off.
Plant is just off exit 15, he lost his load at exit 6? Steel went over the bridge onto another road. Took out a man and woman on their motorcycle. She died right there, my understanding it mainly fell on her as they passed under the bridge.
What is a life worth? What is a good nights sleep worth? It’s worth those few extra minutes for sure. At least to me, and I don’t want anyone feeling that I’m saying you have to belly wrap..... that’s your business.blairandgretchen, cke, Zeviander and 24 others Thank this. -
How can it be Hot Hot Hot ? There's snow on the ground !
You make me wonder about you sometimes. -
Sad story, belly wrapping isn't a guarantee but it is better than not wrapping it up. -
@OLDSKOOLERnWV Im not so I can't. But of I was on a dedicated gig like that I would put some floor pins kinda like a reese hitch in the floor welded inside of rail. Drop in Pins and a block down and butt the product up to it to stop forward movement. Years ago built and installed a set up like that for a steel hauling company. It isnt fool proof but man did it work well and cheap.
