As long as you set it on the ground enough to unhook the dog bones that’s far enough forward. I think getting hooked up without ramps is going to be hard no matter what.

Just getting under it is going to be tough. I’m no mechanical expert but that’s my opinion.

But I doubt you are going to get anything real heavy. You will just have to run it and figure out what works best. You’re truck may dump air low enough to slide right under.

Like I said before, this is the first truck I've had here at SPD with ramps and yes that's exactly what I did before, just let it come down the tapered part of the frame rails far enough to take the pressure off the bones especially when dropping the deck all the way to the ground.

It's not going to be easy, especially if your 5th wheel is all the way back so that the end of it is past the slides and up a couple inches off the rails. Your going to jar all kinds of #### loose in your cab/sleeper hitting it hard enough to jump the rollers onto the 5th wheel. Especially with an automatic.

On my 680 with the automatic I took a grinder with a cutoff wheel to the tabs at the rear of the 5th wheel slider and cut them down. Then I'd slide the 5th ahead just enough that it was a couple inches forward of that point. Get the rollers onto the taper on the frame then it was only an inch or so jump up onto the 5th wheel slider and only another inch or so jump onto the 5th wheel itself. Not as easy as ramps but considering I was only breaking down a neck a few times a year, it was doable.

One word for the wise, don't know if you drink things in cups (coffee/soda), but if you do, make sure they are really tightly seated in a cup holder or your hand is on it otherwise you'll be mad as hell as it ejects from the cup holder and launches itself into your sleeper when your jumping the neck back up on your 5th wheel.

Just thought I would quote this milestone that was reached last night, this post was #50,000. Maybe TTR should treat this like one of those FB things where a page reaches XX number of likes, shares etc and give IH some kind of reward.......
