We have just the opposite problem with the engines on the planes I work on. When we start engines the oil pressure is usually around 20 psi in warm weather. When it's really cold out, teens or single digits, the oil pressure is around 100 psi when you first start.
You get a bit of a pucker factor for a little bit till the engine starts warming up and the pressure starts dropping. You just hope you don't blow anything for a couple of minutes.

I hope this isn't a stupid question but what kind of oil is used in those type of engines? Is it some special aviation oil or is it similar to what we put in our trucks and cars? We generally put 15 W 40 in the trucks snd 5W-30 in our cars and light trucksOLDSKOOLERnWV, cke, 4mer trucker and 6 others Thank this.

It's kinda the same thing, only different, lol. It's pretty thin, probably like a 10 or 20 weight. It's not classified by weight it has it's own specification number and that is what we go by, like MIL-***-****. The MIL is for military specification and then the numbers. Same thing with our Hydraulic fluid.OLDSKOOLERnWV, cke, 4mer trucker and 5 others Thank this.

Haha, major change of plans, lol. A couple hours after getting dispatched for Wednesday, I get the call that they have a driver stuck without a working truck in Calgary and have no one else to rescue him.
So I played tow truck driver this week.
By the time I got to the yard Tuesday afternoon, they had everything hooked up and ready to go. Hammer down from there to Moosomin, SK, then to Calgary, AB on Wednesday. Swapped tractors and brought the dead one back. 1650 miles in 27.75 hours of driving time, in a 63 mph truck. In Canada, that's unheard of (helps that I don't have to stop for load checks).
Got out of Alberta as they were getting buried under snow Thursday morning. Made almost 300 more miles in almost a full less day than the trip I would have taken. An extra night at home with the wife and an extra day off before a week of holidays... I am not complaining, lol.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Crusader66, 1951 ford and 5 others Thank this. -

I still like to know what those wires go too. Get the harnesses and tps and speed sensor and stop by when we have a full day and we will put it all on.Logan76, OLDSKOOLERnWV, Crusader66 and 7 others Thank this.
