Something right there that annoys me and I don’t want to insult anyone but when did mechanics become “techs”? There’s no shame in being a mechanic, and I’m an employee not an associate.

I call the guys that only do "computer diagnosis" techs. Most don't deserve to be called mechanics. I think mechanics are way more skilled then "techs". Just my $.02 I could be wrong.

I was listening to a show the other day about this and the guy said they need to compare data much further back as most companies had ELD's in place for several years prior to the mandate, which kind of makes sense. From what he said there is some flexibility coming in the HoS which would help everyone. He mentioned no 30 min break for local/regional guys that have multiple stops per day, a much broader split-sleeper option along with other improvements....time will tell though.

I've got a laptop, an OBD2 connector, a wide array of hammers, and a lopro jack

Serious question, how is loading the first car onto the rack over the top? From my perspective that is probably one of the weirdest and scariest parts of the job. I have a gnawing feeling I would end up over the front.

So if most companies were on ELD’s how do they explain the jump in the year the ELD mandate went into affect? I realize this isn’t your story or opinion.
