I once mentioned different standards for day cab guys vs sleeper guys, the biggest reason for which being the local drivers have to deal with a commute where the sleeper guys can shut down anywhere they park.

Somebody got offended about that.

I actually looked around and didn't see any other vehicles besides that truck (and other trucks parked in the muddy lot). They mighta been out front maybe?

I was at the 71 Express or Express 71 in Mansfield, Ar. Not anywhere big or fancy.

Years ago I seen a documentary on the drivers that run those trucks, was quite interesting. I'm sure it was on PBS but can't find it on any of the usual places, I think they disassemble decommissioned nuclear weapons there. When you see those blue crew-cab pickups/trucks with the big toppers and antennas running down the road it's usually not long before you see one or more of those unmarked Pete's. Back when I started driving they had Marmon trucks pulling stainless boxes. IIRC they also had some sort of system on the trailer that in the event of an emergency it would flood the trailer with 2 part foam that hardened almost instantly or something of that sort.

    Sounds like Fedexitis.

They don’t have “trucks” or “terminals”. They have “units” and “service centers”.

Can you imagine one of these guys trying to work on a lawn mower engine?
