The man caught me running through the woods today south of Birmingham. Pulled out his portable scale. Steers? Fine. Drives? Hold up there son, you're 300 pounds over. I point to the APU.

    You're free to go.

Such a waste of my time... figured he'd at least inspect the truck and give me a clean level 1.

Figures I'd get stopped on the #### near last state too. Either way, no real issues, 280 was a breeze other than that little DOT run-in. Was a nice enough fellow.

I'm hating this Georgia sticky heat already though...

Tell him Happy Birthday. If he didn't want to be there, he wouldn't. It does make a fella proud when his kids step up and grab life by the tail and give it a swing.

Still working on it. We haven't been able to get together at the same time to modify the brackets. Hopefully this week.

Honestly? Not really looking forward too it. Their heavier, Paccar in-house ####-fest under the hood, and if their an automatic their more gutless than my 10speed/Cummins combo.

Funny enough -- my buddey who I graduated orientation with just got his 660 retired. Out of 9/10 of us him and I were the only ones to get 10 speed 660s. He's rubbing it in though, he got a 680 condo with a Cummins and 10 speed. It's an old trainer truck. 210k thereabouts on the odometer -- he's good for at least two years with it. ####. I'll get a new automatic.

Their taking away our APUs too. All new trucks have the bunk heaters and their allowing us to idle them whenever apparently. I'm not really gonna outright leave over an automatic -- truth be told. Our newer trucks have automatic braking, the drive camera is more intrusive apparently, and I'm not a big fan of the looks of the 680... more plastic non sense on the inside apparently... meh. I like the feel of the 660s... and in all honestly would probably prefer a slightly older-truck. In the grand scheme of things I can't really whine about Melton too much -- they've been great to me. Payroll is always on top of it. They keep me moving. Tulsa is pretty much open-door and my driver manager is a cool ####ing ex-army dude whose a straight shooter. My end goal is just different than what these guys got. I wanna do oversized RGN work. So when my one year comes around in September I'd like to pull a step full-time if not a small tandem RGN....

Oh? But at least we're getting rid of the super singles. That's one big silver lining. Right?

Sometime this summer is when I was informally told I was due for upgrade. Their gonna have to pry this 660 from my dead body though.
