I ran today's loads yesterday so I could help the other people I work for. They needed help to cover a load. I was ready to go for a ride anyhow

 

"Fire truck" codes don't cause any derates/shutdowns regardless of what's happening, the engine runs until total failure....at least that was the way it was in 2014 when I walked away from that segment of the industry. Another 5-10 years and I believe the reliability of diesel engines will be right back to where we were prior to 2007...it just sucks that so many people have lost everything before the industry got it figured out, not to mention the EPA has them shooting at a moving target. R&D takes time and lots of dollars....this "green" propaganda has cost the consumer the most.

A former coworker now works in the shop at the local UPS center here and they've been ordering big GM gas engines over diesels for about 5 years now. He said they could replace the gas engines 2 times and still save money over the increased maintenance costs associated with diesels. So far he said they've been holding up good.
