I have always used an air gun. But I do agree the torque wrench is a for sure no guess work involved deal. Most guys think those inners are fragile and are scared to tighten them. Then wanna hammer the piss outta the outside. I use the anti seeze and just bump them snug then get down on them. I also really look at stud threads and barrels. I'm sure I replace them more than most. The wheel seats wear and make a big difference too.
Loves only torques the outside, when I asked the kid wtf good that does he just looked at me. -
I keep Never Seez in my coat pocket; no joke. Comes in handy with the yayhoos that don't know how to do their jobs. If I were 20 (or 30?) years younger, I'd go back to being a mechanic and save my arse for the wild rides out here anymore, LoL~!

If so put my name on it. I don't need it at the moment but...... when a guy do they hard to find.

As a kid dad ran 2 8axles and 1 5 axle. I have alot of time spend on the crap end of a torque wrench! But the old fart was right. You don't stretch studs, neversleaze is king, and you can get them apart if need be with a breaker bar and pipe on the side of the road. Now working a job in a shop lots got the air wrench. I torque mine.
