I have two with plastic hoods over them. The one I drive is an '06 T600 MXS 475 that's had a tweaked 550 brakesaver tune put on it. My son's truck is an '07 387 NXS 475 that's stock.
Yes. The only thing I'll add is exhaust studs on #6. Bring your flashlight and make sure they're still there. Worth noting anytime the turbos come off, it's a 5-6x re-torque on the clamps. Takes that many heat cycles to get them to stay tight.
Mine had 600k on it when I bought it, now has 1.1mil. Only engine related breakdown was an exhaust rocker about a month after I bought it. CAT changed all 6 + the adjacent intake rocker and IAV studs with updated parts. I changed the turbos at around 800k when one got noisy. Serp belt tensioners and idlers at about 750k. With the tune, I'm usually not the last one to the top of a hill but not going to tear it up doing that either.
The other one is an ex stevens 387 auction find with 1.3mil on it. Had to rebuild two of the IAC actuators and change out the FI harness in the head to get it running right.
Both have noticeable blow by, but use less than a gallon of oil over a 15k interval. Provided nothing goes haywire to accelerate the timeline, they'll both go another 2-4 yrs before an in frame is a must. Maybe more.
Also worth noting both have tripacs on them. I know mine was used, engine only at 26k hours. The tripac on the Pete was broke down when I got it, and not in use at least 6-7 yrs if not longer. It has 34k hours on it if I recall. A lot more idling than mine.Al. Roper, cke, Slowpoke KW and 19 others Thank this. -

It's amazing how fast a fella can scale a fence or how high he can jump when he needs to.

I know your right. Or climb a trailer wall and get smaller at the top lol.
My pard is a gummy bear, hamburger thieving machine. At the end of the day he is loyal to a fault and may very well make the train wreck worse but wants in it with ya. My definition of a pal -
He definitely doesn’t want to miss it if something changes. I’d have a hard time changing lanes with him snoozing down there like that?
Looks to be a loyal as they come.Al. Roper, cke, Slowpoke KW and 21 others Thank this. -
