Here’s the problem I have.

He may not have committed a crime of violence there such as 1st degree rape, but he was charged at least with soliciting a minor, and if it was in fact actually communicated to Pat by whomever he was talking to that she was 15, even if she actually wasn’t, intent is established once the target chooses to continue those communications and it isn’t entrapment. It’s only entrapment if the age of the intended “victim” is never divulged.

I do have to question @old iron ’s story on one thing. I don’t know the laws in his part of the world but in MD those type of shenanigans would never fly. For a statutory rape charge to apply there has to be at least several years difference, four if I’m not mistaken. To prosecute someone for statutory rape who turned 18 yesterday when his girlfriend turns 18 tomorrow is nothing short of ridiculous.
