The antenna is tuned by cutting the stinger down to the lowest swr you can achieve using a decent swr meter.
If I'm not mistaken, swr works on inverse property. If they are higher on channel 1 than on 40, the antenna is too short. Lower on 1 than 40 means its too long.
Just bottom it out and see where it is on the meter. Then raise it to the highest point where the allen screw still tightens and recheck. Trim off no more than an inch at a time til you get it under 1.5 to 1. The lower the better, and that antenna tunes really low easily. That whip is stiff so you will need a strong hacksaw or a decent cutting wheel.cke, PoleCrusher, Grubby and 18 others Thank this. -
