I went down to the local glass shop today for a new shelf I had them cut for the shop fridge. When the wife unloaded it (by herself) the door popped open and the big glass shelf fell out all over the floor.
Today she pondered that if the door pops open so dam easy for a shelf to fall out why the hell are we worried that some kid is going to get stuck inside? She said "What the hell kind of weak kids are people raising these days?"
Then she says" oh my that was a dark thought. LOL -
Sounds like you're too young to remember the old kind that latched like a car door with no way to open it from the inside ? They outlawed those when I was a kid because of the abandoned ones in junk yards that kids would play hide and seek in and not realize that there was no way to open it from inside. Car trunks were like that too until lately. Apparently several kids made that mistake.peterbilt_2005, 7-UP, 1951 ford and 18 others Thank this.

Yes. But the one we had went out to the garage for beer probably and it ran forever. The old ones were built extremely heavy duty. Thicker copper line etc. That latch was heavier duty than anything I've ever seen except for the latches on watertight doors on ships. No exaggeration. That handle had to have been 8 inches long to give enough leverage for smaller people to open it. Kid needed it.peterbilt_2005, 1951 ford, Westbound23 and 17 others Thank this.
