Where is everyone #5

I was 29 years old. That put some fear in me. I'd never even heard of such a thing let alone thought about it.

Now, about every year or 2 I go for a blood test just to keep an eye on things.

 

Or this girl from 8th grade.

 

My wife would tell you to go with your gut. If you think they're wrong, get a second opinion.

 

The first time I went in with symptoms all they could find was a elevated white count.....doc thought it was a lung infection and prescribed antibiotics.... I felt alot better after that.

Last time I went in to get antibiotics me and the quack had a little come to Jesus meeting cause she wouldn't write the script. I knew she was trying to pad the bill with more test and called her on it....if mama hadn't been there Ida probably left in cuffs without a script.

 

Really. Its in Genoa Ohio. I recall it being a body shop when I was little. Still has parts and pieces all over. Roof had fallen in on building and no body was around. Matlack used the same green and pulled tanks. Not sure if they were that old. Couldnt read the doors, had newer numbers on battery box. Last inspection in the window in the 80's.

Ill have to swing in again. Dad had a 79 Fl painted there and I was tiny.

 

So this happened.


Did an in-cab "training" trip today. Guy training me said I have more hopper experience than him, and it's just a formality at this point for their insurance.

So we show up back at the yard, and I'm given a truck, set of trailers and I'm going to work by myself tomorrow. Same place we went today, and I'll be following him and he'll have another trainee, but still. Day three and I'm already by myself. Didn't think it would happen this soon but I'm not complaining.

Atmosphere at this terminal is fantastic. All the full timers are great guys, everyone in the office is super friendly, and I'm getting excited by the variety of work they offer out here compared to the Winnipeg terminal (which is pretty much just straight fuel all day every day, it's something I want to do, but maybe not right now).

Hoppers, pneumatics, end dumps, high pressure vessels, liquid tankers and they even have a couple step decks for truck recovery/towing when necessary. Schedule is mostly Monday to Friday and they go all over: BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, QC, NT, MT, WY, ND, SD, and MN.

Only downside is I live 2.25 hours away and for the next few weeks don't really have transportation to and from the terminal. But hey, that's a problem for a couple weeks from now.

But earning potential out here is higher during the regular part of the year (outside of fertilizer and winter roads) than in Winnipeg. Guys get more miles, more trips and there are several more "busy" seasons. They do road salt in the winter, that's 3000+ miles a week with end dumps, half empty miles, they've got an hourly gig in Rocanville running salt within the mine. ####, I really have won the lottery haven't I?

I understand the padded bill thing. My bill was over $70k by the time I left the hospital. I had EKG, cat scans, biopsies , blood work, several IVs, all kinds of stuff multiple times. Once they figured it out, all they could do is just give me antibiotics and some blood thinners. There was no operations or anything they could do to treat it. Just basically had to fight it off, which sucked. Took me many months to get my strength back up.

 

That was a third opinion and the top testing facility in the state...after awhile you just get frustrated.

Everyone seems to think smoking pot is the answer..... But truck drivin' keeps getting in the way....
