Hats off to you, Bear. You accomplished something that a LARGE percentage of Americans only wish for.

 

As luck would have it, about the time I lost my desire to smoke cigarettes, I also completely stopped caring about what other people think of what I'm doing. I picked up vaping (and quit smoking) before it was a thing with a type associated with it. My doctor and dentist both agree it was one of the few good decisions I've made in my life.

Thanks for sharing that. Now I don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Obviously it's more complicated than that, but one of my fondest memories was taking a trip with my Dad a few years back, out to visit my Grandma just before she passed. It was a near miracle to see him unwind with family without the stress of keeping up the appearance (to Mom) that he was not enjoying himself.

I love my Mom, but would probably see her a lot more if there was less drama.

 

He has 2 combines of his own, but they hire custom harvesters to do the bulk of it. They don't do a wheat crop at all. The cotton is all done by custom harvesters as well. They have a small grain storage facility, but bag a lot of corn at the edge of the field and get it later.
It's a pretty smooth running operation, but he's pushed the people about as far as they can go.

Guess today is the day I better get something done. I need to clear a bay in the shop before Wednesday morning. I have a cow trailer in there that needs a set of shocks. And my truck with a list of things that need done. Got a friend coming in from out of town that needs a PTO and compressor installed for this tank work we've been doing. Come to think of it I better be going to Salt Lake City to pick up the compressor before he gets here too.

Good thing I got the lounging around done last week, this week is going to be hopping.

I think that's happening everywhere. Sad but that's the way things are. I have a good friend here that started farming 50 yrs ago with 1k acres. Now he is up over 10k. BIL is farming right at 18k acres in the panhandle. Bogles my mind. It's all I can do to plant a garden.
