I did not mean to double quote.
Well its not always, he puts out some decent once too. As far as the ATA and the mega fleets Ill assume everyone knows my feelings on them. Not a big difference between the mom and pop 1099 carries, or union. They all have a objective to profit as much as they can. If your a employee, your a employee and working to make someone else wealthy. You might find a gig and live comfortable, but you will never find wealth. Now that said it can be very difficult for a guy with no industry experience to get started in. Not everyone had family, friends or the opportunity to drive illegal underage. I feel bad for the young guys. However we all started someplace, took the lumps and learned from it or quit the industry. Not many places for new guys to start that treat them right. Thats a big part of the problem. But you have goals and willing to what you need to achieve them. I bet everyone on here has worked a few jobs that you would never go back too. But you learned stuff from it that betters you.
1. McDonalds
2. Block tender

I’m pretty sure in America we plow with the plow blades n not the tires?
But just keep doing what works for you though, I’m no farmer, I just spent a night at a holiday inn express once.RedForeman, cke, Feedman and 20 others Thank this. -
I know your not. However my point in another thread was dragged in here and my point missed by most. There are guys with shady past that have no choice. Then since 80% of the trucking industry is made up of companies 50 trucks or less we are to blame too. Plenty of shady small outfits, always has and always will be. Chameleon carriers, 1099, White Volvo club. They treat driver worse than some megas.cke, Feedman, BigCam9670 and 6 others Thank this. -
287 northbound, Wichita Falls. Middle of town. I’ve got a truck in front of me, in front of him is a truck pulling half a double wide trailer house. Smoke boiling from the right trailer wheels. People hollering at him on 19. No response. Rubber starts flying and then A WHEEL COMES OFF. Hits the concrete barrier on the right side of the road, comes back across the road, cutting right between me and the truck in front of me. Windshield high. Bounces on the left shoulder and goes over the rail. There are all kinds of houses and businesses down there.
He finally pulls over a couple miles later.
Amazing that thing didn’t hit a vehicle, although I can’t say what it hit after it went over. Hope nobody got hurt.RedForeman, cke, Feedman and 19 others Thank this. -

I'll say that the Mega's are what you make them. What anyone should make them is up to them, but IMO they're for cutting your milk-teeth. It's not the end all be all, especially if you want to Specialize or you seek to find your niche. Dry van is not a niche.... It's a grind.... Unless you enjoy it.
I started at Warner. Did 14 months OTR - Easton, ME to San Diego, CA and all of it in between.... I might not have seen any of that otherwise. I appreciate the opportunity. And while I didn't keep a spotless record there (I went to safety about every 4 months.... usually because of my own ineptitude) they kept me on & gave me 1500+ mile solos, regularly, towards the end of my tenure.
Then I went to drag h2o tank locally for Poland Spring (thru RC Moore) for 2.25 years.... developed a complete and utter disdain for dry van work, receivers & warehouses, live loads, live unloads, lumpers, sliding tandems, scaling, fixing other people's mistakes when they drop.... didn't have to do any of that tanking - start to finish was: my job.
Then I moved. Talked to a local employer for about 10 months prior before commitment to do dry bulk.
When you find yourself where you want to be, you're happy. But it isn't easy getting there, and you're going to step in some #### along the path.
Wipe your feet at the door.... or just leave your boots outside. Lol.cke, Feedman, BigCam9670 and 14 others Thank this. -
