So, what exactly “ruined” the industry? Start at the top. The Department of Transportation, the truck manufacturers, and the ATA. I’ve often wondered where all of these fat antisocial losers seem to think that being a fat antisocial loser means that they’d make the ideal driver. It HAS to be in the marketing. So, I look into the little truckstop ad books, and I see a smiling hefty guy standing tall, clean cut, looking confident, standing in front of some megafleet cookie cutter truck. And the ad says something about being respected. “We treat YOU like family! Be a person, not a number!”

I will bite. Since you want to revisit this topic. The ATA is the mega fleets. You agree that the ATA is the problem. Thus megas are the problem. It’s not simply because they are mega, and not all megas are created equally.

There is a large problem in the full truckload long haul market of being a meat grinder. They chew people up and spit them out. So much so, that people who would make a good driver leave the industry with a bad taste never to return. What’s left? What we have today.

As far as my main problem with Chinatown. He steers people to places he knows has a poor reputation, and he knows full well these places are designed for the driver to fail. By that alone proves he is not helping nor does he care to help.

So no I won’t say he’s providing something positive. He’s no different than anyone else coming on here telling someone how to turn up a B model by relocating the screws to the glove box. Or quoting regs that don’t exist, just so they can sound smart and important.

One of the saddest sickest stories I’ve read in a long time. I pay attention to weather 24/7. News maybe a day a month. It makes my blood boil.

Trucking has become the path of least resistance nowadays also.

How hard can it be to sit in a truck and hold the steering wheel? It has an automatic, no shifting gears? I don't have to read a map, I can use my GPS? It comes with a TV and I can play my games, watch movies? Cook in my own microwave? I don't have to listen to my mom everyday telling me to take a shower or brush my teeth? I don't even have to go to a bathroom to go, I can just go in a bucket or a jug and never leave the truck? I don't have to fix anything? I very rarely have to interact with anyone or carry on a conversation? Your going to pay me how much once a week? I get free medical insurance? I can wear the same clothes everyday? Nobody knows me so if I decide to go inside I can talk about how I save lives everyday after I've kicked somebody's a s s and everyone will sit and listen AND believe me?

Then they get the job and it becomes......well wait a minute! You never said ANYTHING about having to drive in cities. I have to take this where AND be on time? I have to inspect what everyday? You want me to tarp what? I have to get my hands dirty? I have to pay back what? Just because that guy parked there it's MY fault? I have to get tested for what? Now hold on! I'm not getting out in that, it's cold out there and I'm not putting those on. I've been here for 2 weeks and decided I don't like it so I'm going to quit and your not going to pay for my first class ticket home?

Sheesh, what a bunch of losers!
