Back to work today! Asphalt training and CPPI certification. Off again until Thursday to do H2S Alive training/certification then probably no in-cab till next week (due to needing H2S to load/unload bitumen products).
Really, really excited for this. First true liquid job and I love the sounds of what's involved and where I'm going.

What does a gearbox do when the plungers don’t set?1951 ford, PoleCrusher, Feedman and 15 others Thank this.

AC clutch started makin racket so I put a new one on. Stripped the threads in the compressor crankshaft when I tried to tighten it. So I had to pull the compressor and cut some new threads in it as well as the bolt. Then of course vacuum and charge the system again. Made a 15 minute job take two hours and I needed to be hauling sand.
Oh well, got it done. Tomorrow is a new day!
@Humblepie did ya get that oil cooler done?1951 ford, PoleCrusher, Feedman and 18 others Thank this. -
The plungers are supposed to send fluid back to the reservoir when your steering stop bolts make contact. This keeps the pressure from the pump from blowing out seals on the gearbox. If they aren't set right it starts bypassing fluid too early and you lose power steering before the wheels are cut all the way.
If you change the setting of the stop bolts or change tire size and needed to adjust it you should always reset the plungers. This is done by pushing the plunger stops in with a hammer and 1/4" punch.
On mine they would not go back in, so that's why they think I bought a junk unit.1951 ford, PoleCrusher, Feedman and 17 others Thank this.
