Great story.
My mom use to have my great grandfather's '56 Chevy (Bel Air i think), 6 banger, interior was torn, automatic, no power steering, all original, cream colored body with a dark brown roof......it looked like a derby hat driving down the road so it wasn't the coolest thing around back in the 70's and it's all I had to drive back then, my dad wasn't about to let me drive his truck. I took my driving test in it and I hated that car, it wasn't cool enough for me at the time. What I wouldn't give to have that car now.

See my comments about that "alpha male" crap. It wasn't a chic flick. No pretty guys. No crying, no sidewalk sissy moments where someone has to get in touch with his inner self. Of course it's not going to do well with the critics. But the critics would rather you watch something more "sensitive." If Antonio Bandera's role had been played by a woman, same script, same lines, same everything, it would have been a critical success. Or, if one of the Vikings had been "openly" gay, the critics would have lauded the movie.
Could you imagine telling a Viking to 'man up'? Tough as hell, fearless, sailing the oceans in overgrown canoes. How in the hell does a Man 'man up' anyways? I guess thats a 21st century term. But the 21st century has "Modern Family." We had Al Bundy.

Isn't it funny how things like that work out? My first car was a '72 ford maverick. Beige in color, 4 door, 6 cyl, auto. It too wasn't the coolest thing to drive around. I asked about getting something else and was told,
"You can drive what I provide, or you can get a job and buy what you want. But you're going to pay for it all, insurance, tags, gas, maintenance and everything else that goes with it."
Suddenly, it wasn't such a bad car.Feedman, cke, johndeere4020 and 10 others Thank this. -

My Dad had a wicked sense of humor. At 15 we bought my 67 from the neighbor just a rolling chasis. Put a 327 and 3 in floor in it. Rocker panels hood and right front fender and knee deep corvette yellow paint. To rhis day i rather drive it as anything.
There was also a chevy chevette 4 door with no muffler very little paint for when I was in trouble. ####in thing is prolly still running it refused to diepeterbilt_2005, sawmill, cke and 15 others Thank this. -
