I'll definitely look into balancing it. I'm not really set up for large engines at home so I was planning on having the engine shop install the crank and cam, just to speed things up. Definitely will discuss it with them.
I tossed the original SSHD's in the trash. 5.29 with only an inter axle locker and on rubber block. Picked up a 1999 Rockwell 20k lb rear on Freightliner air. 3.73 ratio. Best part is the yoke is a 1710 series like my driveline so no drive shaft modifications should be needed.

For what it’s worth at 375 or 400 and just to be a toy hauler and no more than your gonna use it. Balancing would be a waste of money. Just build it back to stock plus a little if you want. I would change the rocker shafts though. They do break with time and are a son of a to deal with away from home. Make sure to change lifter clips too.

Well, I just found out something new. In one of those threads telling others how to drive, someone made mention of how his trucking company taught them to drive. That's always a bad thing when a grownup says, "I was taught this way", because it usually means that he hasn't figured out for himself WHY or whether or not the teaching is right or wrong. In other words, he's just following and doesn't understand fully.
Anyway, the trucking company taught him that what's behind him is not important and to keep your focus on what's ahead. I've always wondered why you see some mega carrier truck going down the highway running from the cops in a 65 mph truck. I've often wondered why so many trucks hog the middle lanes and refuse to share the road. I've often wonder why there are trucks on the road that will not get out of the way for emergency vehicles.
Now, I understand. -
Yep, headed north

The most FRUSTRATING thing about the entire trucking industry is, despite everything you do, despite bring your A-game to every game you play, despite you putting forth effort to be the best we can possibly be...
...we are judged according to the least common denominator, the Braindead. Six back quiet. -
@TripleSix if that's the member I'm thinking of, they've got 2 or 3 other threads that are just as uninformed as the one you mentioned.

On 75? Safe travels, hand.

Wasn't the member that started the thread, who is not even worthy to converse with, but another who posted in that thread.
-
Yep, and that his company is supposedly teaching this, is even more dumbfounding to me. It seems like a reasonable person with any amount of common sense would know better, but I guess that's too much to ask.
