I figured...seemed like it'd be an awful lot of work and big money when you could just lessen the aggravation and call a tow truck direct! Lol!

Lol!! I imagine you'd get a pretty good callous on your finger tip!!
Is your buddy alright?? Hope he didn't tear up his ride to bad.Al. Roper, 7-UP, PoleCrusher and 15 others Thank this. -
He’s fine. It’s a company ride. I just hated having to tell him to drive it like that, cuz I knew it would tear up more stuff, but there comes a time when safety is more important. You’re a sitting duck on a busy highway like 81.
Thanks for asking. You been behavin? I ain’t seen ya on the news. -
That thing was spooky until you get used to it. Try to get it to downshift one gear and it would take two or three. I never saw the tach so high as that thing spun it. And part of the reason they get such good fuel economy is because they kick it out of gear and coast as often as possible. We are all taught how "dangerous" that is. Otto Matic don't give a durn.
That 13 is a really good transmission after you find a way to make it do what you tell it to and keep one step ahead of it. Then you learn to trust it and it does a good job. It was in a Cascadia and it was a lot better than the 10 spds in the Kenworths imo, although those were ok too. Not great but ok. The 13 shifted a lot better and faster.1951 ford, Czar_Zero, PoleCrusher and 13 others Thank this. -
Glad he's ok!! And yeah I figured I best keep my head down!! Can't make no money sitting at the grey bar motel..and heck as old as I'm getting I ain't got but a few really good fights left in me so I'm saving them for things that really matter!

That ain't good. How long are they usually down? Great pic!!! BTW.

I hear ya on the coasting thing. Boss has a daycab Volvo in the fleet. I used it to haul rock locally a few years back. Got one them I-shift transmissions. 455 hp gutless turd, but you can’t outrun it 0-30 with a standard shift.
Like ya said, I don’t like the way it coasts, and it would wind er up to 2100 and dang near throw ya through the windshield when you pull that jake lever down to 3.
I had a hard time getting the PTO to engage consistently with it, but it eventually would work.
