Its east Chicago and at night you drive thru the hood to sneak in the steel mills. Its ranks up with Detroit and Baltimore for me.

The new petro is a #### site better than the T/A was 15 or 20 years ago. It was rough back then.

Yeah. Used to be the only stop there. It had a major drug and prostitution problem. I was glad they built that petro.

I haven't seen that. But it Calumet city and cook co. is were your hoods hung out back in the day. Then Lima Ohio was called little Chicago. It was were Dillinger hid when Chicago was hot. He ended up jailed in Lima. Has his pic on Police station wall all proud. Hate to tell you why I seen that.

Years ago, that Petro was a Steel City truck stop, and the Loves across the street was the Flying J. The Petro was where the current J is, next to the TA in Burns Harbor (10 miles east).

In those days, I used to stop at the J exclusively because 100 gallons of fuel got you a shower ticket and the 24 ounce T bone dinner.

Talk about rough area...Grant Street was one of those places where you had to be on guard. Steel City was dark at night. They definitely cleaned that place up.

If I can’t get into the Petro here I park at the TA in Burns. Or I’ll leave it on the turnpike or push it to Rochelle.

Anything else in Chicago isn’t worth it.
