Definitely picking your spots goes a long ways. But I can honestly say in the 18 years I’ve been out here, it’s not nearly as bad as it used to be. Prostitution is all but gone compared to several years ago. And from the stories I’ve heard from dad and other old timers. The 70’s and 80’s and early 90’s was even worse.

Then stay away from Shaffer ave in Detroit. And Mexican village at the base of the Ambassador bridge. You will get that feeling.

 

I stayed at the Walt Whitman. I stayed downtown Detroit in the late 80s. Stayed in Ontario CA. The places where I ran into trouble was Jacksonville FL and Cape Canaveral.

Who would have thought?

All this talk about prostitution, drug rings, etc... the only time I’ve ever been threatened in a truck stop it was by another driver. Both drivers were black.

I’m just a white male so it must’ve been my fault and this is just me racial profiling...
