You're right on that. We've raised her to be extremely self sufficient and independent, while also working to make sure she has discipline and responsibility. She's turned out pretty well, and I don't just say that because she's mine.
She set herself up to graduate six months early, so she will be done with high school in January. She keeps her boyfriend in check and doesn't put up with any ######## from him, and she's well liked by her peers.
I guess when I think of cool parent, I think of all the fun stuff dad's do that I never really did.blairandgretchen, PoleCrusher, Slowpoke KW and 15 others Thank this. -

Not really. Classified as a semi-precious stone.
The only Birthstone that's really valuable, I.e. expensive is April, which is diamond.BigBob410, Slowpoke KW, PoleCrusher and 11 others Thank this. -

Ruby & emeralds aren't considered 'precious'?BigBob410, Slowpoke KW, PoleCrusher and 11 others Thank this.

Oops. ? I didn't recall those two being listed as birthstones ? Pearl or Alexandrite is listed now for June. Gotta remember I read a list from the 70's before the internet existed and there wasn't anything to compare it with. I was thinking that it was really odd that diamond was on the list when everything else was a lot less expensive back then.BigBob410, Slowpoke KW, PoleCrusher and 12 others Thank this.

Definitely they are. Pearl too. Even though a pearl starts out as a speck of grit that gets in a clam shell and the clam keeps coating it to make it smooth. I don't remember exactly what it coats it with but it's a bodily product of the clam. I think the inside of the clam shell gets coated with the same stuff ? Not sure about that.BigBob410, Slowpoke KW, PoleCrusher and 11 others Thank this.

Now I’m totally confused. I thought Oysters made pearls. And I thought pearls emeralds and Rubies were expensive. Not as much as diamonds but still pricey. I need to return to high schoolBigBob410, Slowpoke KW, PoleCrusher and 11 others Thank this.
