Picture reminds me. Spent decades in the NW back in the day,layover was usually at Jubitz TS in Portland where our terminal was. Around 1980 Regan was running for election,Bush Sr. for his VP. Bush came to Jubitz Truck Stop one sat. for a campaign stop,Moe Jubitz was a big republican supporter. The had police snipers on the roof,Secret Service everywhere,set up metal detectors,to enter the bar area-dance hall where he was to speak. Drinks in plastic cups only that day,so nothing to throw at him. Even took the balls out of all the pool tables for the same reason. Bush came,in said vote for Reagen,and gone. He then went outside,they put him in the drivers seat of a Market Transport truck for a photo op. Never forget,he didn't know what the sleeper was,didn't know truckers slept in trucks.
