It will come to a screeching halt before you know it, and look something like this when it happens.

I learned it gets coated with tar, and of course has the wire binding wrapped around it. So long as water/pressure remains within it holds up for a long time. There's still some 24 inch mainline in use locally that's over 100 years old.

I finished restoring my Chevelle about 3 or 4 years ago,but I had about 8 or 9 years total, off and on,to do everything. I did the mechanicals, but I didn't do the body and paint, have a very talented friend that did that. But I took the car apart and I did strip every bit of paint off that SOB,by hand, what a miserable job. Just reinforced my hatred for body work.

I checked it when we got home the 10th and it was just damp, no standing water. Apparently I now have a crack somewhere. The neighbor 2 houses east has been pumping water for 3-1/2 weeks non stop. He said when he turns his pump off, his will fill to about 3'. They're lower than we are and his fraidy hole is a full 8' deep, mines only a shade over 6' deep.
