And that is why I do what I do. I was 27 when I walked away from a wage paying job, and have never looked back. I have seen my fair share of rocky roads, and have asked myself more than once, what the hell have I gotten myself into? But I wouldn't trade one second of it for anything.

Grub, when I first started racing the Elky it was a coin flip if it would hook when I launched, esp. tough with a 4 speed. Even with bias slicks. Can be a real problem in A bodies. I acquired a complete Moser 12 bolt Chevy rear, which has the 4 control arm brackets welded in different places than GM did. Nite and day difference. I have Hotchkis non adjustable polyurethane rear control arms, and cheapie CE 3 way adjustable shocks. Now all I have to do to control my launch is tire pressure. When I launch,I want to just turn the tire a little bit and go. If I dead hook it,by dropping the air to much,it dead hooks and either breaks something,or pulls a moon shot wheelstand. That's fun,but it's a huge ET killer.
Grub, the first thing I would do,and it's cheap,is put a good set of rear control arms in,or at least bushings, esp. if you're getting any kind of wheel hop.. El Caminos did not get the good boxed GM factory rear lower control arms, even in the SS package like the Chevelle did. Something to do with the factory air shocks, which were standard on Elkys. If you have the stock lowers, you can weld in reinforcement boxing yourself, and then get a set of polyeurethane bushings should help a lot. If your on stock worn out rubber bushings,it will never hook.
Best place to start, and not a horrible job. And those Competition Engineering 3 way adj. shocks, are very reasonable, too,if your stock shocks are suspect. Good luck, let me know if you need more help.

Bob,I have no video of the Chevelle, just this one old picture from way back when I used to race it. Most of the pics and videos of the Elky I find on the internet are done by who knows.
Old video of Elky, fast forward to 1:42. Ran my dial dead on,lol.

It came with the truck as part of a deal. It came from a 2006 corvette with 44k on it, timing chain broke so they replaced it, redid the 243 heads, New 660 valve springs, ls7 lifters, trays, push rods. New turbo cam, trailblazer SS intake and 90 mm throttle body. New high pressure oil pump.

Pistons are fine, cylinders are fine. So I’m gonna run it when I blow the 5.3 up. A new bare ly6 block alone is $1500 these days, the one I bought for my Sierra 4 years ago was $1000. Those 6.0 are a premium nowadays.

Hey Doug thanks again, we put some non adjustable tubular uppers n lowers on it when we did the fr as me off on it. I know the brackets yer talkin about, they pretty much the same thing as them old Hop Stop brackets to improve the instant center. I think I'm gonna see about raisin the upper arms a bit.

No sir. It was in reference to a cheese eater from another thread that had a mechanically challenged roll back.
