Dredges up a memory.... quite a few of them actually. I've always been impartial to critters over people. Definitely a 'dog person', but cats are okay, and I've kept aquariums off and on since I was a kid, turtles & tortoises are great to keep, birds can be cool too.... That memory tho.... Was probably 14 (ish), my parents had been separated for a while and my father kept our dog Yappy ('Yapping Jack' - yellow / black lab mix, the offspring of a friend's dog 'Murphy' - lived to be 19). We'd see each other regularly and then dad's life circumstances changed.... I was informed that he shot Yappy in the head because he couldn't afford to feed him anymore.... It was probably my first real experience with sheer hatred, and knowing that I had received a demonstration of a level I would never sink to, with a keen awareness that there's always a way to mitigate situations and the sense that the dog did nothing but belong to the wrong ####ing person.... I try to exercise forgiveness, but my dad and I still barely speak (I'm not inclined), and I think that's probably where it started.

Jeezus... That's awful. Would have been so simple to make a phone call and say "come get this dog".

I wouldn't talk to him either. But then again I haven't spoken with my own dad since 2003.

It’s a 389, he was digging around in his side boxes, when he pulled up there was a screwdriver laying on the driveway. I got out and took it up and ask if it was his, he said no so I just laid it inside the truck wash on a shelf. It was a good looking truck for sure.

Few years ago he sent me the paperwork concerning his plans to donate his body to the Albany (NY) College of Medicine upon death.... I will sound like a dick, but my first thought was 'Good. I won't have to pay for your burial.'..... I don't like it. Leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. But it's that Absurdity I spoke of earlier. It's chaos; nonsensical, pointless, chaos.

You wanna see filthy. I moved a drill from one landfill to another last weekend.....raining on both sites.....ever smell clay infused with garbage ? Was going to wash it this morning before I loaded but there was a two hr wait....nope not me. Glad I didn't. Got to the site nobody around. Gate locked. Called the boy no answer. Found out he got picked up on his third DWI. THEY SAID DO WHAT YA GOTTA DO. so I walked over and fired up an excavator and moved the huge concrete blocks they had the gates attached to. Got broke down to load....dead batteries ! Jump started from another machine. Halfway to the trailer ran out of fuel. So got some fuel and primed. Loaded pulled out, drug the gate back in place....took 5 hours to do all this.......sometimes I should just stay in bed !!!

Certainly is something that could become a multi-volume rant.

The fact that I'm still working where I am now is because I've managed to mellow out and be a little more "namaste" about the eyebrow high amount of goonery that goes on.

I have to deal with an outside salesman who's got a galaxy sized ego. He used to be the branch manager until corporate shut down that position. But, people here still treat him like he's in charge almost to the level of "god king". He's said out loud that he likes the fact that he has "all of the authority with none of the accountability".

Creates an interesting dynamic to say the least.
