We still have a Curtis Mathis stereo. AM/FM, record player and 8 track. Its something my parents bought new in '74. One broken wheel and the record player won't spin anymore. I've been trying to throw it out for ten years but my wife won't let me. Maybe I'll take it to the shop and tie the satellite radio into it.

Have you ever known someone who couldn't keep a job, because someone could piss him off, make him lose his cool and the next thing you know, he's getting fired? I'd see it alot when I was younger. I knew many girls that would get fired, get fired, get fired, get fired...all for the same reason. Good workers, but just couldn't keep their cool. Always starting over, always the new person.

You meet drivers like that. Good guys, but lose their cool when some yardboy pushes their button. And they become irate. That's bad business.

    Story time...

Was on a wind job in Milford,Utah. Got to the pad they wanted to unload me, crane is there, rigging crew is milling around my load. I am walking around the load taking my securement off. Some woman drives up, clean clothes, clean hardhat, gets out slamming the door, comes up to me and starts yelling. You know the type...out to show every man on planet earth that she's the queen bische. The rigging crew stop moving. I ignore her. She comes up to me yelling at me while I am removing securement. I ignore her and walk to the other side of the trailer. She gets louder. and follows me to the other side of the trailer. I look at her, shake my head NO and walk to the other side of the trailer. The rigging crew starts laughing out loud. She is super pissed. She starts screaming at me, "DRIVER!!! WHY WON'T YOU STAND STILL AND LISTEN TO ME?????"

I stop. I pause for a moment. I walk up to her. Get real close. In her personal space. I lean in and whisper in her ear...

'because you are screaming at me and I have sensitive ears"

She looks totally shocked, "Oh!" She then lowers her tone and starts speaking normally. Great! Now we can have a conversation!

When I was a teen, my mom would come in and yell at me, and I would punch holes through walls, or mirrors or whatever. I would wreck my room, or whatever room I was in. Girls I dated would set me off like no other, and we'd yell and curse and throw things. We were dating, supposed to be in love, but we'd wreck the house and say hurtful things. You know, the stuff you don't really mean but you say it because you know it will have a reaction on the other person. Hurtful things cannot be unsaid. In fact, it will be brought up again in the next argument. Yet, we are supposed to be in love. Toxic.

Driving OTR is usually long and boring. I was 22 when I started driving. Yes, people and traffic and whatnot pisses you off, but for the most part, you're behind the wheel driving and your mind starts to wander. I would relive ALL the stupid things I did, all the bad times, and heard a voice in my head tell me I was stupid and giving me mental flashbacks to prove his point. Now, I always did well in school and made good grade. But remember what makes a person stupid (HAVING INTELLIGENCE, BUT UNABLE TO USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE).

BTW, young people, that voice in your head...do you know who that is?

    "Is it God, Six?"

No, it is the ultimate version of YOU. It is the person whom you can become through self discipline. He is you, without the stupidity and weaknesses. I started hearing Ultimate Six when I was in my late teens. Sounds crazy, right? Have you ever had a conversation with yourself and learn something? That's crazy too, right? Ultimate Six would explain to me the things that my grandfather had told me in the past.

One of the things that I noticed about Mom is that she can't have quiet times. She has to turn the TV on. People are slaves to their phones and tablets to keep their minds occupied. Heavy drug use and heavy drinking is popular for a reason...it keeps the Ultimate You down. These people will never develop into the person that they're supposed to become. And so, you see people in their 40s and 50s that quit developing mentally at 18. Still doing the same stupid stuff. Still making the same mistakes. That's my father, now a stupid old self-centered fool.

Annnnnnd my slip seat truck is now throwing codes, leaks water to the point that paying for a shower at a TA would be pointless, and the APU doesn’t work...

I tell ya. Local gig sounds better every day. ####ing nonsense. Guess I’ll limp it to SLC.

Ruthless, that is always one of the toughest things I ever have to do in life. But as an owner/keeper,you know what is always best for your beloved animal,.............and sadly, sometimes it's that. Just remember the good times,I'm sure there were plenty.
We've always been a dog family, esp. on the farm, all kinds of great mutts, can't imagine what our life would be without dogs. Got one sitting at my feet now while typing. We will all be waiting see what your next dog will be,good luck!

Got a problem I can use some help with from you Cat guys...

I recently replaced this compressor. I keep having a leak where it goes into the engine. Sometimes the bottom nut is loose, sometimes it's not. I've replaced the stud and used new nuts and washers. I guess I could put a lock nut on it. But I'm wondering if you think it would be helpful to have some kind of support bracket on the other end of the compressor. Seems like I remember seeing that on one of these 750 units one time.
