My ex BIL got into an accident in his early 20's, which would've been in the late 70's, and killed his best friend because he was drinking. I know he was charged with involuntary manslaughter but he wasn't in jail very long. Between then and '02 when the wifey and I were divorced, he had gotten 9......N-I-N-E!!! DUI's. I think he served a month for one of those but other than that he never spent any significant time in jail other than an over night stay.
Not saying one way or the other, just sharing, because their were plenty of times I got behind the wheel during my drinking days and I had no business driving a bicycle much less a vehicle. It's a miracle, and I mean that, that I didn't kill myself or someone else or at the very least end up in a bad accident or get a DUI.

Talked my way out of a few (3 or 4) & my one field test only blew a .06.... I'm no Saint, but really not anything I'm interested in trying again. Especially when we consider driving to be my profession these days.OLDSKOOLERnWV, 1951 ford, cke and 13 others Thank this. -
Arraigned in flip flops.... News reports & past sentencing material are calling him a 'truck driver'..... I guess so.... A little skinny.... but, flip-flops.

They used to just make us pour out all the beer when we was kids.
I don’t really drink anymore. A beer on rare occasion and that’s it. My young years were enough to let me know that when I got to feelin good I just couldn’t quit. Thank the good Lord above nothin bad ever happened. I was 21 when my first kid was born. I got to hold him that day and that’s the day it all changed for me.1951 ford, cke, Westbound23 and 19 others Thank this. -

If any good can come from this tragedy it would be if this brings attention to the lawmakers who are thinking about letting the too young folks drive CMV's and keep encouraging the cheaper labor to fill the seats of our transportation system.
Wonder if the political honchos would get the point if every time they got on a plane the aircrew were all from foreign countries ?
Not attacking anybody. I'm all in support of people having upward mobility opportunities, but we have to insure that reasonable restraint is practiced in the safety arena.
Can't hire crooks to be cops.
Can't hire a blind person to be a doctor, etc.

At least you realized where your priority was at that age. I was 43 when my son was born and I had all the partyin outta my system by then. I honestly don't know if I'd of figured it out like you did at that age, I was pretty irresponsible for a lot of years in the name of having a good time.......props to you Shooter!

@KillingTime
Had a young driver, a friend and fellow biker, tell me that he wanted to have more presence when we went out. And so, I looked up some videos and discovered the same people that say they have strong presence in a social setting also claim that they’re an alpha male. Which, I think all of that alpha stuff is worthless BS sold to guys who need a label for themselves in order to feel better.
Anyways, I stumbled on a video that reminded me of that black guy with the stupid hairdo that you had questioned me about as far as whether he were manly or not.
“Strong MASCULINE presence”....in what world? I posted a week or so ago about being at a billiards club (I was with that young driver, and he invited a couple young girls to sit at our table and play cards. I posted a pic of the girl with the Botox face) and the other girl told me and young driver that she was usually the dominant person in the room. We both laughed out loud.
So, is this guy a bad person? I don’t know. Is he “manly”? Probably in his circle. Or at an EMO concert. Or a Goth convention. But, if he came up to me to tell me how to have a “strong masculine presence,” I would laugh.
Story time: I have a nephew that’s a teenager. He too probably has lots and lots of conversations about his hair. I’m the bad uncle btw. His mom doesn’t want him hanging around me, because I bought him a bow, taught him how to throw knives and axes, and take him to the gun range. Now, I’m not saying that throwing knives and axes, and shooting bows and guns means that you’re manly...it’s what I do when I am not on the horse.
But this is the nephew that my sister won’t allow to do dishes because “he might cut himself.” I told her that he’d only do it once. Education is a wonderful thing. She bought him some expensive sneakers when he started middle school so that no one might pick on him and bully him and he commit suicide. I told her all he has to do is throw down ONE TIME in school and he will never get bullied in life. I offered to teach him. She didn’t like that idea. So, the toughest thing he’s ever done is wipe his arse and play video games.
Well, my sister wants my nephew to cut his hair, but my nephew thinks his hair is pretty. My nephew comes up to me and asks, “Uncle, do you think I need a haircut?”
‘Boy, WE are not going to have a conversation about your hair.’OLDSKOOLERnWV, 1951 ford, jamespmack and 16 others Thank this. -

I wonder what’s the purpose of the trial? To make the families of the victims feel better? To get some sort of “closure”?
