I don’t think you can hurt one of those old Detroit’s with either. Not in my experience anyway. They just keep going and going and going. Screaming all day long

GM used the 8V-71 in their LAV's well into the 1990's until we switched to the Cat for a little more power and range. Cat 3126 I think. The driver sat literally inches away from that thing separated only by a 1/8" steel bulkhead and some insulation.

 

I bet no one stared him down while he was trying to pick that cow up.

 

Yes the inline 6 was noted as the 238, many old timers referred to them as that. Just as the 318 was a 8V-71 rated @318 hp depending on injectors and no Turbo.

 

If memory serves @rank drug in a 238 in a air compressor....?

 

I’d sure hate to think I was ever that hard up..... yuck lol
