Two transmissions. The way modern 13/18 have a front and back half with buttons, used to have to do that with a shifter.

No, numerically you would multiply the 5 by 4 for 20 speeds, but there was a lot of overlap and different possibilities that could be used, so you didn't end up with 20. It had a 5 speed main box with reverse, and then a 4 speed brownie, or auxiliary. This particular one had an overdrive in both the main and brownie.

Hey @wore out , when you get a chance, could you please answer a couple of questions? I wasn't going to bore everybody with this and was going to send you a PM, but I can't attach files via a PM, so here goes. Which spring were you talking about replacing with the purple stripe spring and washer on my 4mg, is it number 13 in the first pdf? Or one of the ones in the second?

Also, you had talked about the potential of using 8785 nozzles, but had to check to see if they were compatible with my pistons. I have 8N-1608 pistons.

    Thanks!

It's the first spring on governor when you pull back off pump. That first pic shows the spring (13) in front of the one I'm talking about.

I have been needing that timing advance break down just kept forgetting to ask you for it.

Yes the 8785 will work with those pistons

    5 speed main, 4 ranges.

Like the Mack Quadruplex for example, although this guy isn’t that good at it.
