Very unusual but me going to Quebec was my choice. Was supposed to head to Toronto with wings on Monday but then they pushed till Friday or next Monday so I asked if I could have this load back from our brokerage to do something this week. I didn't want the week off and didn't want to sit in Dallas in the heat. As for the wings being slow, kind of but nothing unusual. They're changing up some tooling which slows things down and the Tulsa 20' wides are currently being flown from Tulsa instead of being trucked to Savannah because they are way behind. That adds wing drivers to the other wings/loads we cover.
The whole 737 issue has slowed some of out lanes down and added truck/driver capacity to other lanes. I wouldn't want to be the one in Arlington trying to do the balancing act because we have contracts to cover so dispersing too many assets to other "new" accounts will leave the company in a sticky situation when production ramps back up. Everyone is acting like this is the end of the world however they have the memory of a goldfish, we went through this when they grounded all the 787's over the battery fire issues.
I stay plenty busy because there's nothing I will say no to (well except elevators and even then I probably wouldn't say no, I'd just complain a lot). Just like this load, wasn't even on the Wichita radar because it had been turned over to brokerage and there's no due on dock date so no rush to cover it. I called Wichita and told them it was still there and asked if I could have it for something to do. They asked if I had a flat and enough tarps then said load it and get going. I'll try to make a round trip out of it bringing loaded ones right back to Texas however we no longer have the contract for that as we were severely underbid by another carrier. If not I'll call Lisa and see what she has or see if we have some tooling in Michigan going to Wichita, Charleston or Florida.

Truck Driver Themed Fireworks -
Its illegal in Ohio too. Only in forced if you cause trouble like burn a barn down, or a wheat field. -
It is a state law. We have stores all over. But you can't shoot them. Just tell them your going to Michigan. Open burn is illegal too. But around here you call Sheriffs office and tell them your doing a controlled burn and mostly leave you alone.
Used to get good fire works from a lunch truck in Detroit. But last I knew he was doing 5-10 on a ATF charge. And his son is missing half a hand.cke, Oxbow, BoostedTeg and 9 others Thank this. -
Most everyone we know is running a Merritt Goldline and a few of us have a Wilson. Several guys have traded up to spread axles in the last few years.
Our trailer is the only one I know of in our area that is legal for California KPRA rules...and we never go there. -

The year before this went into effect was a horrible drought year. The fire chief wanted to cancel all fireworks because of the danger (We ran 32 fire calls on the 4th alone, 1 of which was a very expensive house and the reason for this story). Anyway, City Hall was going to have to refund 10's of thousands of dollars in firework stand fees, not to mention a city full of people wanting to set off their fireworks. City Hall won, the show went on.
Somewhere around 0130 the next morning, P.D. called in a house fire in a nicer neighborhood. Wood shake roof, fully involved and fire had extended into the house itself. The owner tried to get his minivan out, and put his 2 little dogs in there with him. It wouldn't start, he got hot and bailed leaving his dogs, they died.
After it was all said and done and the sun came up, a driveway to the south was buried in fireworks litter. The city manager, who made the decision, lives (still to this day) next door to the house with the trash. The house that burned belonged to the parents of a still seated batch of a judge. She threw her weight around and got the ordinance passed.
The investigation would lead someone with normal common sense to blame the homeowner to the south. The spirit and letter of the law says, "Bring me proof". That really had no chance of sticking.
Now, if you come across the river to South Hutchinson,
the sky's the limit. -
Oh I like the look, but would not work for me. 235" 41 foot hopper, 42 foot spread and have places thats tuff to get in and out of. Let alone have a 53 foot box of shame. You get to some of these places in like Cleveland that had docks built back when 30 foot trailer was big. -
