Where is everyone #5

I got started sanding and buffing off the loose paint but haven't started painting it yet. The current task is to strip everything off of the old truck and send it in for sandblasting the frame and repainting it. Then we'll bring it back and put the engine and new tranny back in. We are also getting the lowboy blasted and painted to match.

I'm also a huge matchbox twenty fan.....and I ruined my ears to poison. Jamey writes some dang good country songs.....two time song of the year.....just can't get is act together. I grew up on old music....well cause I'm old....

I've seen Don Schiltz stubble into a pedi taxi at three in the morning and had a nice conversation with Hugh Prestwood watching the sunset....both them are in the hall of fame and can't get a song recorded in Nashville.

And I have to give a shout out to Bobby Bare....he was fishing off Islamorada when we talked to him. He still does three months in Europe every year....another man done gone....Marie Laveau...

We got to see Don Williams here about 10 years ago. My wife and I fell in love some 40 years ago listening to his music.

 

I had tickets a few years ago...I was sick but my wife and her sister went. In a three thousand seat place and they were in about row ten. We were gonna go see him again but he passed before he could make the show. He was working right up till the end....he had a love for music and what a storyteller.

 

We got to see him in a high school auditorium. He was looking a little old, but then he did 40 years ago too.

 

The one that gets me is “In Color” by Jammie Johnson.

Had a conversation just like that with my grandpa about 35 years ago. He was born in 1919 and only had one job his entire life. Hauled gasoline for Standard oil. Like in trucks before they had doors. Him (bernie) and his brother Otis Heft home at 15 and 16 and joined the army.

Married to one woman since he was 18.

Getting my butt kicked by a bad cold, but the work still has to get done.

Unloaded first thing this morning at the customer, then rolled over to Delavan, WI for 17 of these nightmares:



I hope I get a tail wind tomorrow, these things are like sails and catch the air. Should have put a high top on this load, lol.

Anyways, I'm in South Beloit about to jump in back and hit the hay. 4am comes early for those wishing to avoid Chicago rush hour.
