I had something similar happen about 1994. I was just picking up speed running east on #3 in BC and a young cow elk came loping out of a bluff of trees on the right side of the road, and I could not swerve in time. she caught the right side of my hood busting the headlight bucket and mount in the fender on my '89 FLC120. I stopped and checked the damage and saw $400 or more in parts and walked back to check the elk. She was laying on the edge if the pavement in the grass and i saw she was breathing so I went back to the truck to get my filleting knife out of the truck. as I walked back to put her out of her misery she jumped up, looked at me, shook her head ,snorted and walked away back into the trees she came out of. if a cop had not come along at that time and seen the elk leaving and me holding the knife (and laughing as he wrote the report) my insurance wildlife clause would not have kicked in and it would have cost me $1200 and 3 years of higher premiums.

Folks, I finally finished my front door that I started 2 weeks ago. 3 coats of stain, 3 coats of satin poly. Sanded between each coat. New hardware and hinges. The Mrs is very happy. I was not overly impressed how the stain and poly went down. Going next door for pool and beer with smoked wings.
