It just comes down to knowing what your motor usually sounds like. If she’s whining louder than normal it’s usually a boost leak. In my experience anyway.

I'm 95% sure my truck had a bad CAC from day one, so while I appreciate the response it doesn't help me. I usually pull grades at 27-29 psi boost, it can hit 36-38 psi when you punch it but it falls off fast to high 20s.
New CAC and the CAC and piping holds air with acceptable minimal loss, when hooked to a pressure gauge and aired up. Cummins ISXSAR, Shock Therapy, 1951 ford and 3 others Thank this. -
Same turbo as before.
I’m stumped... I’ll fine comb the motor again in the morning where I don’t need a flashlight...SAR, Oxbow, Shock Therapy and 3 others Thank this. -
Easy fix in hindsight. I need a new pair of glasses for missing it the first two times
4mer trucker, Tug Toy, Feedman and 8 others Thank this. -
FYI, you can't always hear a boost leak. For the most part, the truck will be freakin lethargic. Even a small boost leak will have you way down on power. Big boost leak and you won't even be able to run the minimum speed limit on the interstate.

This is what we were doing when it came through Kansas.
2 story house about 8 miles out in the country. Fire on all 4 sides when we got there.
