Yessir. Once I made the switch to automatics, reverse gears was quickly deemed to be for high-rollers only. And since I’m just a broke redneck, I just made sure I never needed it.

My second car. 1986 Mercury Topaz.

 

Mine hands down was a 1981 Pete cabover. The truck was fine but it had an 8v92 engine, and I hated that POS with a passion. I haven't owned a Detroit since then even though I know they have greatly improved them since then. Once I get burned that bad, dam if I want to stick my hand in the fire again.

 

Not so fast Mooseman — try on a 1970’s model VW station wagon with a lawn mower engine in the rear and brakes you could hear for 2 blocks — girls would run away when they heard it coming — affectionately known as “The Little Brown Turd” throughout town (not the actual picture)
