This just hit the News. The Chinese have weakened their currency in the Trade War front. The government's around the world do a lot of manipulating and maneuvering on weekends and holidays the last few years.

 

I'd be partial to that just for the colors, OU ya know

 

News story hit at 4:34 a.m. that the Chinese yuan sunk to it's lowest price vs the dollar since 2008 and caused global markets to slide already. This is a deliberate action in response to the Trump announcement that Sept 1st 300 billion worth of goods from China will be subject to tariffs.
There have been many many articles written about the Chinese yuan being kept artificially low for over a decade already. This has been a major reason why they have modernized their economy so much and so far over the last several years.
Which is good in many ways. Very very good.
However it is also bad news for the rest of the world in other ways.
I'm not an expert in any way, shape or form and don't mean to give that impression.
However I am attempting to make sense of the way that the media presents issues and constantly tries to confuse people.
The younger folks who read along here probably don't know that the Standard currency of the world hasn't been in that position very long. There have only been four different Standard currencies in (modern) history. It has a great deal to do with the stability of civilization.

It's a grave responsibility. The media doesn't seem to want that aspect known much.

I wish I was working today. Kind of hoping I go in there tomorrow and they just tell me to finish for the day and clean out my truck. I don't think I can handle much more boring hot oil loads. And the weather people are calling for rain/T-storms as well, so my loads that I do have might just get cancelled.

How can anyone live like this?
