It's not something I'd want to sleep in for multiple days but I could if I needed to i will say that.

You can pick up a decent mile 2 to 3 year old 579 for around 50k. When this ones paid for if I decide to go otr and get another truck for myself that's what I'll be looking for. A couple year old truck with *gasp* an automatic.

Yeah, if I'm going to throw money away, I might as well get a 1980's 359 with a B-model and just go all-in. Heck, I've seen some rough 359's for $20-30k but they are running and have rebuilt motors. Some of these stock, shiny 379's with post-99 motors are way too overpriced.

Buying a FLD or 9400 with a S60 or N14 would be a much better investment for making money. Heck, if you get it for $15k, put $5k into it over a year and can make a full year's gross revenue, you're already ahead.

Honestly, I'd look into a modern Pinnacle (CHU or CXU) with an MP8 and mDrive. They are available for cheap even only 1-2 years old and since Volvo took over and worked out Mack's emissions problems (I heard the transition period was a hassle for a lot of them), out of most emissions trucks, they seem to be going pretty good. I know @MartinFromBC swears by them.

I follow him on Instagram, he just bought a brand new Anthem and getting over 10 mpg on the regular. Just knowing his attitude from his posts, how he takes care of his truck, this would be an amazing buy to run tandems around the flat land. A little long in the legs, but I wouldn't be looking to win uphill races if I'm in it to make money.

Hauling feed they ran pinnacle and anthems. They seem to be good enough. Those trucks were all local and ran a pto pump probably 30% of the time and still averaged 6mpg at 83k short runs etc etc.

If I could find one like this when the time comes it's what I'd buy.

Nah, it's wheelbase laws in MB. 244" is max for 53' trailer. They are behind the rest of western Canada. You can get permits for over-length tractors, but they are costly (depending on length, it could be $3-6k a year).

EDIT: Or you could just run it and hope they don't notice and pull out the measuring tape.
