I totally forgot about that....I have seen step conestogas but always wondered how they rolled the tarp past the step?
Where is everyone?

you can put a chain on the hook of your strap and chain it to your rails to gain some extra feet. Kind of hillbilly, and you have to be a little concerned about it going slack and the chain falling out, but it can be done !

home for my 34 hours off...well close to it at least.
headed with a short load of tarped lumber to Scranton pa on a 53 foot open flat, one of our local drivers is unloading my 50 foot beams in my sidekit, then hes going to tear down and stow my kit, load me a load of fully tarped fiber board and relay it up to me somewhere between Scranton and Pittsburgh so I can take it up to bedford NH.
I wouldnt want to be that local driver, thats a ton of work for him to do, I have a steel tarp on the back of those beams because they stuck out of the back of my sidekit about 4 feet aswell, I feel bad for him... -
I'm sure the local driver is paid hourly??? If so, it's all in a days work for him.
-
Negative, hes paid a fixed rate for everything he does, tear down a kit, tarp a load, detention for load time if over 2 hours, if not he gets a set rate, then he's paid 24$ (i think) for ever 52 miles he runs on the day, it's a really messed up pay scale but its the same scale that we work off of as road drivers except we get paid mileage + set rates for everything we do, such as all I listed above, sleeping a night in your truck, lay overs, etc.
It's kind of tough to get used to but in the end its nice to get paid for everything you do... -
Notre Dame vs Alabama?
