i put a chain across the u frames in between the blade and the machine does that work or do i have to put something on the bucket or blade itself?
-
It's a safe bet to put a strap/chain over the blade/bucket itself that way there is no excuse for Mr. DOT to give you a hard time.
cpape and fisher guy Thank this. -
You got that right
-
Ok question.......I sometimes see guys secure a metal tracked machine by using a binder only....what does the DOT have to say about that? And also when you put a hook on a track and tighten it all it seems to me is it pulls the track....is there another more secure way?
-
Look at the undercarrige. Most of the machines have holes in the front and back to put either a slip hook or chain through.
You can also go over the tracks from side to side. Meaning hook your chain to the trl. go over the tracks and the tie into your frame.
Alot of us do go to the track and yes it does suck it in.
Also old units you can break the track pads. I know, have had it happen..
As for hooking binder to track to frame. Lazy, oh it will be ok.
But if you have no stop points on your rail, the binder can and will slide in a panic stopp.volvodriver01, SHC and Logan76 Thank this. -
if your pulling your binder straight from the rail, hook it under the rail from the inside and put it up against a pipe spool so it cant slide.
-
Well that is true, but not too many lowboys have rub rails.I have seen a few, but not many.
volvodriver01 and Logan76 Thank this. -
Your right, I don't like hooking to the lip on a lowboy, I was more referring to a step deck sorry.
volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
Put a strap over a bucket of a Bob Cat the other day, forgot it was there..... Those things snap like a thin thread when you lift that bucket.... Opps.Logan76 and volvodriver01 Thank this.
