Very rarely will you see my truck sleeping @ a truck stop, I hate them.

My routine is to usually pump fuel, pull up beside the CAT scales, run in and shower, then hit the road.

Didn't trust it. I knew the Interstate would be cleaned, but unsure if they would have the state roads open. I've seen Iowa's idea of snow control and usually there are lots of trucks and cars on the sides of the highway before they get out. :D Besides, I kept trying to get confirmation on the CB, but no one was answering and as I drove by and glanced down at it, it didn't look all that clean to me, so I figured I made the right decision....besides I was doing full speed on the roads by that point. Only dicey place was through Sioux City...rest was a breeze.

Kinda comical what IA calls snow control or plowing and ice control! Pretty much a joke!

They keep that road as good as the interstates and sometimes better. There are five state maintainence sheds from the MN line to Sioux City.

Perhaps, but I just didn't feel like taking the chance, especially since the difference between them wasn't that great. In fact once I got above Sioux City about 5-10 miles or so, it was dry pavement on I-29...and 90 too, although there was a brief threat from a stray snow shower on 90, it was gone quickly. Perhaps next time I can try it, but I was already trying to play beat the clock and a serious delay would have changed my scheduling. :(
