Must be the 'tards over there in NC huh? Wont be back there anytime soon, although it paid excellent for a legal load!

I deal with them every year too, pure stupidity IMHO. It's pretty bad when we have to send a multi axle rig and trailer for a load that would normally be a heavy 5 or 6 axle any other time!

Well, I've only been driving for two years so I'm still a rookie and only speak from that limited experience, but this 680 I'm driving now is the nicest ride I've experienced yet.

You've driven many, because they were rentals when your Volvo was broke down! :biggrin_2559:

Many moon ago, I test drove a special edition Volvo 770 when hunting for a 3 axle truck (sold my 4 axle KW).
It was, buy far, the best riding truck I have driven. It went down I40 in Ar between W Memphis and LR like it was an actual highway, instead of the pothole riddled POS it used to be. Would have bought it, but for the empty weight of the thing! Think it had a 500 Detroit and 18speed IIRC.
Not been in any newer ones but that thing rode better than my W9 ever thought about riding. Mind, I dont have "hood fever" neither, so no bias with my little .02 worth....:biggrin_25525:

Spoke to our permit gal, and she has been routing the bigger stuff to Fargo up 380-218-18, and into SD on 18. So I think I will go that way tomorrow. Any truck stops before the scale (IIRC) on 18 in SD? Does it close at dark etc? I can run in the dark in IA, and can in SD kinda, but I dont have the reflective signs due to the $$$$ involved! Been that way before, but it's a year between me driving it (frost law BS), and my memory isn't that good anymore!

That's the only bad thing about the Volvos that I can say, they are heavy.

I'm not a hood nazi either, I'd drive a team of horses if they didn't have personality
