I was wondering where you were all day.

Thought you were still nursing that sunburn or something.:biggrin_2559:

When I eventually go back, I'm going to hold out for a higher rate. I had to deadhead about 115 miles to NJ. I'll put that extra expense into it as well as a NYC surcharge ;)

115 miles is hardly considered a deadhead

For me it is, if the reload is more than 50 miles away it had better pay good.

CAXPT, Blind Driver and Logan76 Thank this.

If 50 miles is all the farther you can DH then is a line haul problem

As I tell my Agents, distance of deadhead is dependent on rate.

Not a problem but do not put myself that far out of a lane and have my next load on paper before I ever deliver, if I can not get out I never go in. Sometimes I have 3 loads lined up at a time with load confirmations in hand. Why burn fuel that is not needed?

Because I've got customers that I depend on for work and they depend on me to get the job done, picking and choosing where I go is not really an option, but I could DH home from SoCal and still do $2/mi
