I always made the guys "pay" for being unprepared, I always have them a hard time about not being ready, but in the end I gave them exactly what they needed for free.

I gave a guy a brand new set of airlines on I-71 in Ohio one time, he said "I don't have the money now but ill get you some money" "What's your address?" I gave him my address and what do you know next week on that Tuesday my girlfriend at the time called me and said "There's a 100 dollar bill in the mail from a so and so's trucking(don't remeber the name)..proof there's still good people in the world

Yep, just did a search on the Home Depot site for 6X6 Hardwood and it came up with one, at $21.97 per 8' piece, so it looks like I'll be using some plastic to get some wood....oh that didn't come out right.... but I still need rubber....oh that didn't come out right either... :D

Seriously, now I've got to locate a thick rubber pad. Never ends. :D

How did you get involved with the tech college? I am a big believer in tech schools. I think way too many people go to a traditional 4 year school, waste a bunch of time, rack up a huge amount of debt, and are no more employable at the end of their schooling. When people attend a tech school they graduate with skills employers are really looking for.

Pape, youre thinking of getting involved with a trade school? That would be so cool! A real world company, not a bottom feeder preying on the uninformed.

I would like to. Right now, I have too much on my plate between the business and my family. Eventually, I hope to catch up with life and have the time to support the causes I believe in.

Hanging out at the T/A in Jessup, Md.

This T/A has a "chef" from one of the local cooking schools doing up the stir fry :biggrin_2559:
He's wearing the white fluffy hat and everything. Too bad he's starting with sub par ingredients.

I got a serving of what I thought was beans n' rice. Every time I bit into a bean it tasted sweet :biggrin_25524:
Then I realized the beans are raisins :biggrin_25526: That was weird.

Got my LTLs off and won't do any more unless I can pull $3 a mile for nearly all the miles.

The sad thing is I'm not really unprepared. Just haven't been doing coils...so hauling that stuff around when you aren't using it seemed a waste of my storage space. As it is, they didn't issue me that stuff the first time I did the coil for them anyways. I bought it near Blytheville, AR near the Nucor plant I believe. Rubber pad, timbers...etc. Carried them till I quit last year...and didn't bother when I came back, because we just didn't seem to carry coils. I know when I look at the company's boards, our division is specifically excluded from hauling coils.
    :smt102

I know where to buy the stuff when I'm near major steel shippers up north, but never did much out of the south here, usually was bringing them down.

I have coil racks and timbers, but none are beveled. I could just find someone with a saw and pay them to cut a angle in a few of mine if needed.

I'm with ya, I've got a degree in criminal justice but I had little to no desire to use that degree when I finished college. I was having a conversation with my mom, superintendent of dodgeville schools, about this same topic. Many more people need to consider going to tech schools, I wish I did. Don't get me wrong I have almost no debt in school loans so I don't feel burdened by attending college, but it was a waste considering I spent about 8k in student loan money at the bars in Platteville.

I believe in a place that pays for the school of your choice, the Marine Corp. Gives you knowledge on how to properly present yourself both physically and mentally. The also teach you how to think "outside the box" better then any college level philosophy class can teach. They also try to teach how.to keep cool under pressure. I learned a ton! Lol not easily!
