there is the rail that the curtain slides on and then the rubber seal then the trailer. and the j-hooks are underneath the trailer so i have to shove the straps down between the rub rail and the trailer and then they hook underneather. if you are standing next to the trailer you have to look under the rub rail to see the winches and hooks. they can be a pain when your tightening your straps also

That is the J Hook they are all talking about.

What brand is the trailer you're pulling?

its a western...my straps and the setup are more of the d-ring i guess. also im curious because they welded stake pockets to the trailer and then mounted the curtain rub rail to the stake pockets so im curious if they are rated at 5,000 lbs or not. i was wondering this when i was chaining down a couple coils the other day

I guess my question is inside the trailer near the rub rail are your floors smooth?

yeah its smooth but when they had the trailer converted into a conestoga they cut the rub rail off of the trailer so it is just the regular deck with no rail then welded the stake pockets to the side of the deck then bolted the curtain rail to the stake pockets

Thats really tough and a huge PITA ... I keep my rubber tucked up to avoid moisture from rain and snow .... But I mainly use chains but I carry ratchet straps to avoid using too many straps...I cant keep straps on the trailer and have to roll them up after each use

Weird, chain pops are usually in the floor, not hanging on the outside underneath.
