So your battery dont go dead while you are setting all day cooking and watching tv charging your phone dont need to idle all day but a hour or so while the crockpot and microwave are in use

Everybody always cries "all the wasted fuel" I can tell you I run West Coast in the mountains all day everyday, idle almost every night except when between say 45 and 70. When in my old Pete with 3406B I got 6.2mpg thats better than what a lot of these APU no idle trucks are getting. Now with this new fancy ProStar I get 7.5 - 8.1. Idling doesn't use that much especially considering that it is providing your electric, heat/AC. Would a TriPac be better for the environment? Maybe. Better for my lungs? NO. At least my idling exhaust goes up and away rather than lingering under my truck for me to smell all night. My company allows me to idle, if they tell me I can't there better be a AUX heater and AC of some sort or I will move on to another company. Plain and simple.
Now if I were working for Werner or Stevens or Gordan, ect...I would not worry one bit about wasting some of their precious fuel to idle at night so I can be fully rested and be able to perform my job safely the next day. Also I watch out for numero uno, I AM the most important person in my life. Does that make me a bad guy too? Anyone that says they don't is delusional.X-Country Thanks this. -
after all, who does that?
some of us live in our trucks because we cant afford any place of our own or we cant see the point in justifying the paying rent or a house payment when we are only home a few days every month.
if the companies dont want drivers to idle, they need to put the drivers up in a hotel. period. or stick in an apu in the truck
but most companies wont do either of the above.
cmv drivers have as much right to a comfortable temperature controlled environment as anyone living in a house.
i have a right not to sweat my arse off or freeze my bewbies off!!! -
So go and get a job at a company that puts you up in a motel every night for your 10 hour break (lots of LTL companies do this) or go get a job at a truckload carrier that has APU's on their tractors (lots of companies now have APU's).

If it's NO (normally open) sensor you close the circuit. If it's NC (normally closed) you open the circuit.

So theres two? Or is that the same one

I found it! Ty so much for the pics. Its doesnt look the same but i was able to get the temp high enough to idle. I didnt have much to heat it without damage but i used a work glove and my exaust pipe. Heated the glove and covered the thermonitor. Worked perfectly. And before anyone starts getting upset with me. Im onlydoimg this because my idle system temp is set too high. It has to be at least 85 degrees before my truck will idle. Idk wht it does this but if its cool enough outside i have two fans that will work. Case and point today my truck kept going from 82 to 85 and back down. Each time it would not warn of an idle shutdown in time for the 85 mark. So this override method saved my ### from another sleepless night that would have made me unsafe to drive a CmV. I hope to one day get an APU so i can save some fuel but until they give me one im stuck with this. Ty again for the help
