I just recently started running under my own authority, but it still doesn't make sense to haul that junk. Like you said, you can get the same gross revenue deadheading back towards a better freight area and then loading back towards the house from there.

How about NV? Cheap real estate, no income tax............ I kind of like it around Reno myself.

I'd like to hear from NV-resident O/Os as well.

    Snow?

I've been dealing with it for years! I'm just kind'a thinkin' I'd like to NOT deal with it for a while.

South Dakota? It's nice for a minute but...No thanks!

The primary problem in Texas is the boys from south of the border that will haul for almost no money!
There's a lot of flatbed freight but most of it pays like crap!
Those North Dakota loads have to pay $4.00 a mile because there's nothing coming back out of there and if you do find something, It pays nothing.

I lived in Reno from 2003 to 2007...I would rather live in a landfill than go back there!

Agreed. Just saying I'd rather do that and deadhead to say, Kansas City, and still be at $2.40 for all miles than take $1.30 from Houston to the Midwest.

If you are free to move, it only makes sense to get on one end of your best freight lane. I don't know what you haul but whatever it is, it has to be better in certain areas...unless your a Mayflower :))

And like other said, it ain't gonna be in Texas or Florida. I wish I could tell you how great things are down here on the Gulf Coast, and they are great down here, except for the freight rates.
