I'm not considering buying a truck at the moment. While I haven't checked recently, I remember trucks being over priced and loads being unreasonably cheap. Add in currently high interest rates and I'm not fond of where things are at the moment.

working for the same company for 2 years proves you aren't the type that jumps often. I don't see any benefit to staying put if they are slowing way down and not treating you with respect. BUT find he next job before you turn in your notice. The point of a job is t make your life better, not create problems for yourself. There is only limited satisfaction in quitting and then being out of work unless you use that time to move to where you want to go. I didn't say quit and then stay unemployed until everything is moved. If you need to change the moving date to a sooner time, do it. You are not going to look half as hirable if you are unemployed as you will if you keep working. Even 30 days unemployed will make you look somewhat sketchy to the premium companies. Every week after that a few more companies will not want you. Eventually only the worst companies will even consider you after about 1-3 years out of the truck.

I heard a sailor explain the lifeboat drill this way. You don't get into the lifeboat until you climb UP into it. Once you get your next job, start shopping for the job you would leave it for, and keep it in your "back pocket", for emergencies. The goal isn't to work at every trucking company or the most trucking companies. The goal is o either mine seniority at the companies that reward that, get comfortable, or keep getting better jobs. You need a destination before you pick a route. Decide what you are trying to achieve and then take steps toward that goal.

Why not move sooner? Eastern PA has a lot cdl work. You might just get a warehouse job, they were advertising 22 an hour. Idk if that still is like that. I wouldn't want to be forced to drive in PA in the winter. Look at Air gas. That's 100+ a year gig. They were hiring up there.

The bright side is you have a job and money is coming in.

My lease is up in October and I'll have a one or two month penalty for breaking the lease if I leave early. That'll set me back thousands of dollars I don't want to lose if I don't have too.

    Yo, BillyBob....

With 2 years of experience under your belt, along with a good safety record -- I would submit that in the CDL sector...the world is now basically your oyster.

LOTS of opportunities are out there, with different types of freight -- if you know where to look...& especially if you have (or are willing to get) endorsements.

This should still hold to be true in the PA area.
