All this “right company” stuff is a load of crap. There is no “right company”.

$64.00 per mile is my idea of money. Not too common in the freight game.

If I put thought into it, I could give you a couple dozen more at least in this area. But I won't. Go look in the Favorite Company forum.

I hate that cliche. It is just a little bit of BS fed to the braindead masses to make them feel comfortable in their choice of mega-crap carrier.

The company that 'works for you' is the same thing 'right company.' Everybody is looking for a living wage on reasonable work schedule.

There's money still in this trade, but these days it's really only in the niche sectors of trucking. Just too much competition in irregular route truckload to make a decent buck for the time invested.

Wages actually fell in the past years of never ending driver shortages. My former company ran ads for my old job offering greaaat wages of 40k+, it used to be 50k+ just 7 years ago. I guess they need that 10k to cover ELDS and driver facing cameras. Forcing drivers to pay for their own humiliation, sweet. The ads did not run for too long though, there is a sucker in front of that camera making big bucks by now. I quit because of the driver facing camera and I had terrible time finding any local job that do not treat you as a chattel slave and pays at least $20/hr, I do have a clean record, almost 2 millions miles under my belt, all the endorsements, solid employment history, wide range of experience.... Having all of that my pickings were slim to none, I settled on a job paying $820/week for something resembling 8-9 hours work days, settled is a wrong term, it was the only job offer I got. What is even worse my truck driving experience counts for nothing in the non trucking world, you cannot get even retail/warehouse/manufacturing job with that. I guess it is a reason trucking biz treats drivers as spineless dirt, they know many of us have nowhere to run. Seriously, if the bosses wI'll keep on doing what they are doing the time will come (rather soon) when just thinking that you drive a truck will make you feel dirty.

Did he really need the oversize load sign on the front bumper?? Lol! I mean it's kind of obvious! Just one time I'd like to pull a load like that!

I met a guy hauling an enormous load from Galveston Texas to West Virginia that paid the truck $94,000 plus $1,000 per day detention while they were scratching their heads trying to figure out how to get this heavy load up the side of a mountain on a dirt Logging Road. That would be pretty cool being a company driver doing a load like that and getting paid 25% of the load.
